Children come into Kinship Care for full-time 24 hour substitute care.  This is temporary care with the intention that children either be returned home or have a permanent family through Adoption or Legal Custodianship.  Children who are newborn to age 17 years old come into care via referrals from the Department of Human Services, usually as a result of parental abuse, neglect or inability to provide appropriate care.Kinship Parents Parents are approved through a process that includes in-home assessments, interviews, home studies, reference checks as well as criminal and child abuse background checks.  Once approved, parents receive ongoing training and supervision to ensure a positive, nurturing and safe family environment.
