Permanency through Adoption
The ultimate goal of any out of home placement for a child is to provide a permanent home so that the child can grow into a self-sufficient adult with an active and productive future.  To that end, Methodist Family Services of Philadelphia (MFSP) offers a comprehensive screening process and training program for all prospective adoptive parents.

The focus is always on providing the best environment for the child’s growth with an eye towards stability in the family.  MFSP Staff work to ensure the maximum growth and development for the adoptive child and may remain involved with the family following adoption for up to 12 months to ensure a smooth transition and provide support for the child and the rest of the family, as needed.

Successful adoptions encompass:
Commitment to the child and his or her new family
Opportunities for individual development to maximize each child’s potential
Recognition of the child’s history and heritage
Flexibility
Resourcefulness
Good sense of humor
