Methodist Services for Children
and Families
The mission of Methodist Services to Children
and Families (MSCF) is to develop and provide prevention, education
and counseling services for children, youth and families which will
enable them to have the basic essentials for living and the social,
emotional, psychological, educational and spiritual development to
achieve their greatest potential. To achieve these goals MSCF:

Provides a continuum of care through a range of
services;

Strengthens the family unit;

Advocates for equal availability of and access to
resources;

Increases education and training for staff and
clientele;

Builds collaborative relationships within each of the
communities served.
Prevention, education and counseling services
currently provided by MSCF include:
Beacon Program at Stetson Middle School

A bustling community center that offers customized
programs for children and their families.

Located at the John B. Stetson Middle School in the
Kensington section of Philadelphia.

The Beacon Program offers open enrollment.
Before and After School Programs
,
Safe and secure, educationally-based programs for
children when their parents are at work.

Located at various elementary schools throughout
Philadelphia including locations in West Philadelphia, Kensington
and on our Main Campus at 4300 Monument Road, Philadelphia.

The Before and After School Programs offer open
enrollment.
Center Based Program/A.V.R.P. (Adolescent
Violence Reduction Partnership)
,
A highly specialized
support program to keep young teens engaged in school and involved
in special activities. The program has been found to prevent young
teens from succumbing to criminal behaviors.

Kensington section of Philadelphia.

The Center Based
Program/A.V.R.P. is through referral only.
Community Counseling Services
,
A program which provides therapeutic counseling
services in the rural northeastern area of Pennsylvania in
Northampton, Carbon and Monroe Counties. Accessible and responsive
staff provides professional, confidential and affordable counseling
and early intervention services to assist children, individuals and
families deal with life issues.

Located in Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and
Schuylkill, counties in Northeast Pennsylvania.

The Community Counseling Services program offers open
enrollment and is also provided through referrals.
Educare Learning Center
,
A licensed, non-profit daycare and preschool facility
that provides the opportunity for the total development of each
child.

Located on our Main Campus at 4300 Monument Road,
Philadelphia.

Educare offers open enrollment.
Parenting Education Collaborative
,
A supportive program designed to be an interactive
discussion for a small group that focuses on learning specific
parenting skills.

Offering services to families throughout Philadelphia
with administrative offices on our Main Campus.

The Parenting Education Collaborative offers open
enrollment and is also provided through referrals.
Private Kindergarten
,
An educationally enriched kindergarten with only 20
students.

Located on our Main Campus at 4300 Monument Road in
Philadelphia.

The Private Kindergarten offers open enrollment.
Summer Camp
,
Offers an educationally enriched and experiential
summer program full of fun for children from kindergarten through
grade 6.

Located on our Main Campus at 4300 Monument Road in
Philadelphia and at the Stetson Beacon Community Center in
Kensington.

The Summer Camp offers open enrollment.
Our On-Campus programs (including the Before
and After School Programs, Educare, Private Kindergarten and Summer
Camp) include an ethnically diverse population of children from
various socio-economic backgrounds.
