Fresh Start “On her own, but not alone!”
Described as a mother- baby program, Fresh Start will offer a safe and secure home for girls who have aged out of the foster care system and have no place to go.  The young women will be 18 years old and most will have a young infant or will be pregnant.   They are estranged from their families and have decided to leave the care of the Department of Human Services and their social worker and try to make it on their own.

MFSP wants to help the young women transition successfully into being productive and self-sufficient young adults by transforming the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Main Building on the Monument Road campus into one-bedroom apartments, community space and staff offices.  Social service support and counseling will be provided to each of the young women as well as access to daycare services provided on the campus.

Larry Dodds, Chair of the MFSP Board of Directors stated recently that “I am absolutely thrilled that we will be able to use the entire building to provide multiple services that meet the needs of many of our clients.  This building is a gem and I am excited that all four floors will be accessible, modern and every square foot will be well used!”

Renovating a 110 year old building will be an interesting task.  I am sure we will find many surprises as we start to break open the walls!  Your gifts will be needed to support the renovation and the program!  Please contact Donna Williams at dwilliams@methodistservices.org to make a contribution.
