Parenting & Children’s Services
Methodist’s Parenting and Children’s Services Program teaches parents to understand and use effective, positive parenting techniques. Using the Nurturing Parenting and IFP curricula and tools we work to help parents, grandparents, guardians and families master problem-solving skills and techniques. Within the framework of interactive group settings, caregivers are taught the responsibilities parents have to their children; the stages of development that all children must go through; and the amazing capabilities and vulnerability of the brain. Information regarding children’s educational needs and what is available in the school system, is also introduced and discussed in these group sessions. Parents are encouraged to build healthy relationships with their children; develop strategies for spending positive quality one-on-one time; and create opportunities to grow as families.
